Maggie was my baby. Given to us by neighbors when she was 7 weeks old, we loved and cared for her for almost 16 years.
Maggie had many health issues - allergic to just about everything, Cushing's Syndrome, thyroid problems to name a few. She needed a special diet and many different, and changing, medications. But throughout all the food and medication trials, and ensuing problems, she was always sweet, happy and loving.
When my ex-husband and I divorced, I had to leave Maggie with him. It was one of the toughest decisions I've ever had to make. But she loved her home and her daddy, and he loved her, and I felt it was the best place for her. I moved out of state, but made it a point to see her one last time before I left.
I wish I could have been with her during her last days, but I know that she had been cared for and loved, and that I was there in spirit. I'll always love my little girl, and hope that she's now happy and pain free, playing with her brother Teddy.
