Nickname: Dilbee, Dly,
From the moment I brought Dylan home a special bond was formed. I taught him the usual commands of sit, shake with one paw, then the other, wait, stay, feet down, feet up, circle left, circle right, catch, let go, walk, lie down, jump, and to my amazement he learned not just the verbal commands, but hand signals that I included as well.
He was bright. He was eager. He loved the attention. He would follow me everywhere. He even went to school with me. He loved to run the hallways after the bell rang. He loved eat lunch with the other teachers in the dining room.
When he would walk with me, he often would look up in mid stride, just to make eye contact with me or hear me say, are ya having a good walk.
He loved to smell my eyelashes every morning. He loved to sleep next to me, or at my feet or even curled up by my side. Sharing the bed with my new husband was quite a blow to him.
He loved to travel. He loved the ocean, hotels, car rides, elevators.
He would often howl, like a lone wolf on a full moon night, when I would leave him home. If I was away over night, he would sleep at the top of the step waiting for my return.
He hated other people hugging me or approaching me. I was his and his alone.
He would lie down at night and lift a leg in a tapping motion, until I wouild reach over and just pat his head or rub his belly.
He would alert me to an empty water bowl, He would alert me to his hungar for an extra treat.
I miss him every every day.
